We presented Love in Action to the 3 services at All Saints Balgowlah this Sunday.

One of the highlights of this book tour is meeting new people in our community. Many have been involved in Manly-Manado for some time. Some people from All Saints Balgowlah have also travelled out to Manado and visited the communities that we’ve written about in Love in Action.

The message preached on Sunday was relevant for us, the rich. How hard it is for us to enter the kingdom of God. Mark 10:23. How difficult it is to let go of our dependency on the wealth that we enjoy, and yet that’s exactly what Jesus is challenging us. He reminds us that we can’t serve two masters. Do we try to serve both God and the god of money?

Thank you to Clif and David for your support and providing Jim and I a place to promote Manly-Manado Love in Action.

Jim Goddard, founder of Manly-Manado and Stuart Harris, creator of the photographic documentary book Love in Action were interviewed live on Hope 103.2 by Sheridan Voysey during Open House. We were asked questions about how why and how the Manly-Manado project was set up, what Love in Action is about and what mutual transformation looks like both in Manado and in Manly. If you’d like to listen to a recording of this interview click here.

If you’re thinking of setting up a community partnership in your local town Love in Action is a great example and motivational tool for getting people behind your vision. If you’d like to get in touch with Jim Goddard about Global Community Partnerships, the organisation that Jim has set up to help other communities develop a community partnership, then check their website by clicking here.

Over the past 18 months at times I would imagine what it would be like the day the first copies of Love in Action arrive. All sorts of emotions would come to mind. Happiness, relief, surprise and excitement. Last night I rushed to Strategic Minds’ office to collect the small parcel containing the first 10 copies of Love in Action that had been air freighted to Australia. The remaining units will arrive in a couple of weeks – just in time for the launch on Friday 31 July.

The books were so well packed that it took some effort to get them out, but the effort was well worth the wait. The smell is something that hit me first. The freshly dried inks from the press. Then came the emotions. Joy and relief. The many hours of proof reading, of retouching to get the look we were after, of researching other book styles for ideas, of early mornings to make it on location to capture the various shots – all effort rewarded. The book looks fantastic. I can’t wait for you to see it, so here is a sneak peek. See you on Friday 31 July.
