Tag Archives: CNEC Well today, our assignment began. After meeting up with Kim (CNEC’s fearless and friendly leader) and the other ladies joining our HEAL Africa visit, we took off. Heading towards Lake Kivu, the watery border with DR Congo, we seemed to be part of a driving experiment. Our minibus hurtled round hairpin bends, rising and falling...  We’re so excited and looking forward to the coming 3 weeks when we will be travelling to Africa to visit the HEAL Africa Hospital in DR Congo. Before we arrive in Goma, Congo we will first be spending a week in Kigali, Rwanda acclimatising, getting over jet-lag and preparing for our time with our friends... The Democratic Republic of Congo is the most dangerous place in the world to be a woman. It’s a place where rape has become a weapon of war. Now a BBC film crew follows Judith Wanga as she meets the survivors of the conflict. She talks to women, children, and child soldiers who’ve been forced... I’m continually moved and challenged by the wonderful work that people do with their time to help the poor and disadvantaged around the world.
